Recently, a photo of Tata Ines and her son, Mikeal, were featured in the Washington Post. This work is currently on exhibit at the Lost Origins Gallery in Washington D.C. and will be featured in a traveling photography exhibition within North America in partnership with the Women Photojournalists of Washington (WPOW).
To Honor Unpaid Care
Mothers represent the majority of unpaid caregivers especially within Africa. Their sacrifice is often overlooked and remains unappreciated by policymakers, workplaces, and fathers. These photos serve to honor and appreciate the time African mothers have spent caring (usually through delicious cooking) for me throughout my journey. More to come, but for now, much gratitude to Maman Gloire, Tata Ines, Miktile, and Maman Anita.
